#2 ROYAL FLYER (7/2) 4 yo gelding was claimed here in late May for $25,000 by trainer David Kassen and ran a big race first out for new barn getting the win going a mile against a strong allowance field. Although finished off the board in last two still turned in solid efforts once again facing quality company. Should prove tough today dropping to below taking price while cutting back to six furlongs where has proven quiet effective in previous starts posting 3 of his 4 career wins. Today's race is loaded with speed which will set up nicely for this gelding running them down in the lane with Sterling back aboard.

#9 COBRADOR (3/1) 2 yo El Prado colt debuted going a mile on the turf here last out for trainer Paul McGee and turned in a strong performance. It's alot to ask of a 2 yo to go a distance at first asking but colt was obviously up to the task closing well into a slow pace to finish game third despite having bled. Can only move forward this time around receiving first lasixwith rider switch to Albarado now.

Calder Race Course Race 9 (4:37)

#6 REDEEMING GRACE (3/1) Daughter of the young Tabasco Cat stallion Monsieur Cat finished 2nd in both of her starts while facing some of the fastest fillies at the track. In her debut she looked home free until Dynamite Diva caught her with a powerful surge. She had a next-out winner behind her in 3rd that day. In her 2nd start the 1st and 3rd finishers both subsequently won stakes races. Stan Gold has freshened her and she should never look back. Cruz stays with her.

Calder Race Course Race 12 (6:04)

#4 ENERGICO (5/2) Dixie Union colt set a hot and pressured pace and held well to finish a close-up 3rd. Catanese had trained him lightly for his 1st start in two months and he was clearly short. He also prefers a stalking trip. With that race under his belt he figures to improve sharply and he gets a pivotal rider change from Bridgmohan to top jock Cruz. The lightly raced colt will get the right ride this time and is a solid play.

Del Mar Race 4 (6:30)

#5 CHARM THE GIANT (8/5) Owner/breeder/trainer Ron McAnally has taken his time with this filly, and the result has been a stellar record on turf while showing steady improvement. She's won 4 of her last 6, and lost another by just a nose. Her most recent race was her best yet, as she beat an outstanding 'key' race field while under a hand ride over this course and distance. Second place finisher Polyfirst returned to win a stakes race, and the 3rd and 4th place finishers also returned with impressive victories. Charm The Giant should work out a good stalking trip under Solis, who elects to ride here over stablemate Dream's, who also is coming off a win over this course and distance.

Del Mar Race 7 (8:00)

#2 BIG PROMISE (3/1) Last summer this filly showed consistent improvement before going to the sidelines, and she seems to be on a similar pattern this year at age 4. She returned from an 11-month layoff on June 22 but was too 'fresh', fighting the rider and pulling to make a premature move before tiring. She was more manageable on Aug 7 and ran great at 17-1. In that race she stalked a very fast pace, made the lead in the stretch, and lost by just a nose. Since then she's put in two outstanding works over this turf course, and she appears primed for a top effort in her third start back. She can stalk or come from off the pace and retains Michael Baze, who rode her very well last time out.

#5 SMOOTH TALK (6/1) With a decent amount of speed in this race this late runner should have a fair chance to rally from behind. His current form is pretty good, but is expected to improve noticeably today with a positive trainer change to John Sadler. Since his last race Smooth Talk has put in three excellent 5F or 6F works over this track, and the switch to runaway leading rider Victor Espinoza is a signal that Smooth Talk is ready for a big effort for his new trainer. He finished a close 2nd three starts back, and need not improve much off that effort to win today at expected square odds.

#1 TUX N' TALES (7/2) 3 yo Tale of the Cat colt turned in strong performance in debut at Churchill at today's 6f distance for trainer Dale Romans finishing second beaten only a neck. Faced much tougher moving to msw company at same track his next start at 7f and although off the board ran better then appears on paper breaking from post 10. Flashed speed here last out once again going 7f setting him up for the win today facing softer group while cutting back to 6fwith Jacinto back in the irons.

#2 SAINT'S SHADOW (6/1) modestly bred 5 yo gelding has held his own in all eleven starts this season for trainer Bobby Barnett while facing stronger fields at Oaklawn, Churchill and even a start at Arlington last out. Did hit the board in three straight at Churchill including win against solid $5000 claiming field before being clearly overmatched in last two. Has posted a sharp 3f since last ran and appears well spotted by Barnett for the win today dropping to career low with Jacinto up.

Monmouth Park Race 4 (2:20)

#2 POSSIBLE MAMBO (5/1) 3yo filly by Old Trieste (A P Indy) out of a Kingmambo mare added blinkers last time and finished a fine 2nd on the grass. She challenged all the way down the lane and was going well at the wire. Hennig switches her back to the main track today and the recent 5 furlong bullet drill bodes well for even better. The pace figures to be hotly contested, setting things up for her late run. Hennig does well with the turf to dirt move and mud should not be a problem. Castro will be retained.

Monmouth Park Race 10 (5:23)

#3 AIR LORD (5/2) Appeared to have the field at his mercy in a Mountaineer stakes last out but was virtually eliminated when he nearly went down at the break. He was able to get up for 3rd in a heroic effort. In his maiden breaking win he raced between horses early on, dueling for the front end. Proceeded to put away those horses but then looked like he was going to get passed at the top of the stretch by another first time starter who happened to be a half brother to stakes winner Rockport Harbor. The Stormin Fever colt dug deep and turned back that rival while hitting the wire with something left in the tank. Look for a top performance today. Stable rider Chris DeCarlo up for the Pletcher outfit.

Monmouth Park Race 13 (6:50)

#3 PRIVATE NUMBER (3/1) Beat maidens very impressively sprinting two starts back with the next-out winner Exploit Kid 12 lengths behind him in third. Despite a sprinter's breeding the Phone Trick colt then was sent off at 6-5 going a route in his 1st with winners. He contested a hot pace into deep stretch before dropping back late. His fractions that day project very strongly at today's 6 furlong distance and he enters off a sharp half mile breeze in the mud. DeCarlo will be retained.

He showed much improved early speed and dueled through a very fast early pace of :22-2/5 and :46-3/5. He put away his rival and actually did very well to hold on for a close 3rd over a course that was favoring closers. Today he meets a field with little other speed and is expected to slow things down. Switches to Bill Mott’s main rider, Cornelio Velasquez.
