He dueled through a pressured pace in that debut and was in contention until deep stretch before finishing a close 5th. He returned at Saratoga in a tough maiden race and improved second time out, leaving his field strung out behind with a powerful effort. He broke on top and proceeded to open up through a wicked early pace, then widened his margin. He's worked well since that score and no one in this short field has the same type of early speed. That should put him on the lead again and in control of the race. Underrated rider Velasquez fills in for injured Bejarano. 5-1 on the line.
