Wizard's Crystal Ball:

#4 PEGASUS WIND (Race 4) Was so highly regarded by Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas that he placed the talented 2yo in the G3 Bashford Manor in his first career start. He dueled through a pressured pace in that debut and was in contention until deep stretch before finishing a close 5th. He returned at Saratoga in a tough maiden race and improved second time out, leaving his field strung out behind with a powerful effort. He broke on top and proceeded to open up through a wicked early pace, then widened his margin. He's worked well since that score and no one in this short field has the same type of early speed. That should put him on the lead again and in control of the race. Underrated rider Velasquez fills in for injured Bejarano.

#5 SWIRLING SOLOMON (Race 7) TURF ONLY. After two solid efforts to begin his career this colt added blinkers and Lasix August 12 and took a big step forward. He showed much improved early speed and dueled through a very fast early pace of :22-2/5 and :46-3/5. He put away his rival and actually did very well to hold on for a close 3rd over a course that was favoring closers. Today he meets a field with little other speed and is expected to slow things down. Switches to Bill Mott’s main rider, Cornelio Velasquez.

#7 SAY REVAIN (Race 10) Has exceptional breeding for a NY bred, being sired by a Horse Of The Year, and out of a multiple stakes winning dam. Made just his second career start while coming off a long layoff Aug 12 and dominated his rivals after setting an extremely fast pace. The 2nd place finisher returned to win Sunday. Should have more stamina second time back.

8  DANCING FOREVER10/1  Lightly raced and improving colt had to bull his way through a tight hole after getting blocked in upper stretch Aug 12, but did so and was really much the best. Liked softer footing two back. Price.
1  OPERATION RED DAWN7/5  Consistent colt hit the board in his last 7 starts, but has been a beaten favorite 3 times. Has a steady late run and should like this extra distance. Finished 2nd to repeaters in last two races.
9  RYAN IS FLYING8/1  Class drop from a good NY bred stakes race. Won on non-firm turf two back. Velazquez.
6  CONGO KING7/2  Clear top choice if on dirt, but could also surprise if on turf. Much upside potential. Prado up.

4  SOPHIE'S SALAD5/2  $205,000 2yo purchase was probably best in her debut but lost by 3/4 length after going very wide on the turn & into the stretch, losing several lengths. Much better bred for routes.Adds lasix, blinkers
1  VOWEL3/1  Stumbled badly at the start of her debut and was far back in last to the far turn before unleashing a strong rally. Gets a better post now and could be tough with a better start and routine second out improvement.
7  MAMA BEAR4/1  Stalker made an early move in her debut, then steadied in the lane. Trainer better second out.
9  PAY WRIGHT3/1  Third in both turf starts, including a stakes race. Can lead or stalk. Tough post if she draws in.

2  WIN WITH BECK9/5  Comes off a short layoff with a history of firing fresh. Class drop from a solid 3rd vs. much tougher open company. Has won 7 of 20 on dirt and 4 of 11 at this distance. Jockey/trainer team is 5 for its last 9.
1A  DONT KNOCK AMERICA5/2  Can stalk or rally and drops in class. Won 4 of his last 10. 3 for 11 this distance.
6  TERGESTI3/1  Big class drop from his last, and he also may not have liked mud. Just missed vs. similar 6/29.
7  DELTA SEA5/1  Plodder can pick up the pieces & has won 4 of 14 at this distance. Reunites with Edgar Prado.

1  SCAT DADDY1/1  Was never challenged in his dominant maiden win on a muddy track, but did have to work very hard to just get up for the win in the Sanford second time out. That effort should do him a world of good.
1A  CIRCULAR QUAY1/1  Bested Pegasus Wind in the G3 Bashford Manor, but held an experience edge that day. He’s been away for two months since but is proven to fire fresh and should love this stretch to 7F. Bred for wet.

5  IRON GODDESS7/5  Unveiled at 3-5 against males August 28 but was caught wide all the way and did well to finish 2nd against a speed-bias aided front-running winner. Blinkers go on and she faces her own gender now.
8  ACCREDITING7/2  Hit the board in her last six. Far clear of 3rd last out behind a bias-aided wire-to-wire winner.
6  KARAKORUM KNOCKOUT9/2  Finished 2nd in her last two tries on dry tracks. Has speed and now adds Lasix.
7  PLEASURE FOR ME12/1  Compromised by rough start in debut. Note the best-of-73 work since. Could surprise.

9  BAYMONT7/2  The strongest finisher in ths field dropped in class to face claimers on Aug 17 and rallied boldly thru traffic to get up in time. Her final quarter in :22-4/5 was too much to deny, and may be again. Sheds 8 lbs.
6  HAPID RALO5/1  Led for most of the stretch lat time out and fought back very gamely between rivals. Hot barn.
5  MOOREBELLA4/1  Hit the board in all ten starts this year. Led in lane last out but was caught. May need firm.

3  NOBLE STELLA7/2  Rode a soft turf course to a front-running win against better in a G2 June 24. May have ‘bounced’ July 15 but has been freshened since and shows five works. Can lead or press an expected mild pace while meeting a field with little other speed.
5  OLAYA3/1  Finished first or 2nd in all 5 U.S. starts. Just missed vs. G1 winner Honey Ryder last out. Freshened.
7  LATICE8/1  Nearly won G1 E.P. Taylor on softer ground last year. 3rd behind Olaya July 15 despite traffic trouble.
10  MILWAUKEE8/1  Had a terrible trip off a layoff Aug 11, steadying repeatedly in the final 3F. Likes non-firm turf.

11  MR. BOURBON STREET4/1  Big effort as a new gelding off a layoff 8/5, just missing to a subsequent repeater.
8  DEMOCRAT7/2  Stalker can sit the right trip if the top two hook up in a duel. Clear 2nd in a fast race last out.
9  D MONEY8/1  Late runner would also benefit from a duel. Rallied to win at 32-1 at this trip Aug 13. Sharp work.
